The Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has fixed Saturday March 23rd, 2019 as the new date for the conduct of the 2019 UTME mock exam. The board has also directed all eligible candidates for the mock exam to commence the printing of their mock examination notification slips as from Wednesday March 6th, 2019 in order to know their venue and time for the mock exam.
The actual date for the main exam is yet to be announced by the board but a source hinted that the exam has been shifted to April 16th, 2019. However, this is yet to be officially confirmed by JAMB.
JAMB Fixes 2019 Mock Exam March 23rd
Candidates should not wait until the last minute to start preparing for the exam. If you are taking the 2019 UTME, you will be doing yourself a whole lot of good by downloading the 2019 JAMB CBT Mobile App or the JAMB CBT Software for Computers. In a statement by the JAMB spokesman Fabian Benjamin, 2019 UTME Candidates have been urged to guard all their details pertaining to the 2019 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME/DE) Direct Entry.
He reminded the candidates that the purpose of the mock exam is to ascertain the readiness of its system for the exam and help candidates especially those not to familiar with CBT to get themselves acquainted with it.
He debunked the rumour that that marks from the mock examination would be added to scores obtained in the main examination.
Information contained in the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board's weekly bulletin issued on Sunday in Lagos expressed the board's decision not to reverse the use of biometrics in the conduct of its Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination.
It noted that the introduction of the Biometric Verification Machine was an attempt to get rid of various foms of examination malpractice.
JAMB Says the Adoption of Biometrics for UTME is Here to Stay
It stated that the BVM was a security mechanism for the authentification of the identity of candidates as it provided access to individuals data, based on physiological characteristics, and this guards against counterfeiting and impersonation.
The board stated the the biometic security was surely a breakthrough, because the fingerprint recognition technology provides a high level of security as it is impossible to alter data already captured.
Based on the confidence in this system, the board says the adoption of biometrics in the conduct of its examinations is here to stay, and also went ahead to reassure candidates that their fingerprints would not be used for any other purpose except identification.
You might be asking yourself,  how can I prepare for JAMB exam within the shortest possible time? I will say to you that it is very possible to prepare for JAMB within a short period of time. The JAMB exam is expected to to commence few weeks from now. If you have not been preparing like you should. Then this blog post is absolutely for you.
Preparing for JAMB within few weeks involves some tweaks and tricks,  at this point it depends on how smart and serious you are.
How To Prepare for JAMB Exam Few Weeks To The Date
Here are the tricks and tweaks;
1. Focus More On JAMB syllabus
When you want to read your textbooks or notebooks, don't just read blindly from different topics,  Using JAMB syllabus to narrow your reading is very helpful.  In the JAMB syllabus,  the topics to be studied are outline and whatever you need to know on the topic is also outlined.  This will help you read straightforward not blindly.
2.  Use The JAMB Past Questions More Frequently
The truth is there is no longer new questions,  JAMB keeps recycling questions every year. Take advantage of this and study the Past Questions more frequently, this will make it easier for you if you come across same kind of question you saw in the past questions.  Sometimes, JAMB doesn't repeat the questions word for word, that's  why it is important you revise the past questions diligently. I strongly advise you download one of the best JAMB CBT Mobile App (for android mobile phones) and JAMB CBT Software (for Desktops and Laptops). Both of them have over 40000 past questions and answers.
3.  Make Use Of The Recommended Textbooks
JAMB questions are usually brought out directly from some textbooks,  these textbooks are recommended by JAMB. Using this textbook will help you in your three weeks preparation.
4. Join Any Brainstorming Group On Facebook
There are different groups on Facebook where you can join brainstorming session. In this groups,  they ask questions and the members provide answers to the questions , then corrections are provided after the brainstorming.  I personally  recommend "UI brainstorming group".
These four tips are enough to help you in preparation towards JAMB which is coming up three weeks from now.

The spokesman of the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Dr Fabian Benjamin has stated that due to the fact that the date for the 2019 UTME has not been officially confirmed, the reprinting of the 2019 exam slip will not possibly commence on March 2nd, 2019 as earlier envisaged.
He said as it is now, no date has been fixed for the main examination and there is no way anybody can print examination notification slip when the examination date, itself, has not been fixed.
Date For Reprinting of 2019 JAMB Exam Slip Has Not Been Confirmed - JAMB
He added that when the actual date for the 2019 UTME has been finally determined, the reprinting of the exam slip will commence two weeks to that date.
The fact that the actual JAMB exam date has not been determined does not mean that candidates should relax on their preparations towards the examination. Candidates are advised to actually intensify their preparation. The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced that it made a total sum of N1.3 billion between January 18 and 24, 2019 as revenue.
The huge sum is part of the examination body’s revenue generated through the ongoing registration for the 2019 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) and other sources including sale and use of its electronic facilities.
This was as the examination body suspended nine of its more than 700 Computer-Based Test centres taking part in the ongoing registration exercise over allegations bordering on their engagement in illegal activities. The affected centres include the University of Benin ICT Computer Based Test (CBT) and DA Civic Centre, both in Benin City, Edo State; Mardakem Company Ltd., Oron, Akwa Ibom State; Bintels Global Services LTD, Aguleri, and Noble & Shuaib ICT Ltd, Alor, Anambra State, among others.
JAMB made this disclosure in Volume 1, Number 4 of its JAMBulletin- a weekly publication of the office of its Registrar, Ishaq Oloyede.
According to the examination body, during the week under review, JAMB made N42,457,657 from the use of its electronic facilities; N1,212,800,000 from UTME registration, N13,378,604 as service charges by the CBT centres and N52,657,00 from other sources.
It, however, noted that within the week, it recorded an expenditure of N48.3 million through its expenses on staff claims, legal services, payment for utilities, taxes, travelling, among others.

Meanwhile, the examination body said it suspended the nine CBT centres for engaging in unauthorised use of registration SIM in a manner it claimed is inimical to candidates’ interest; as well as charging candidates higher than the authorised fee and for engaging in mobile registration.
Other centres suspended are in Plateau, Oyo, Benue and Ondo States including Global ICT Connect Ltd at the Benue State University, Makurdi; Medes ICT Centre, Idepe, Okitipupa, Ondo State; Divine Success All CBT Centre, Iseyin, Oyo State and Riyom ICT Centre, Plateau State.
JAMB said; “The Board had spelt out the cost for each service, from the cost of obtaining the e-pins as reduced by the government, to the cost of the reading texts and charges for registering candidates.
“Before commencing the 2019 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) and Direct Entry (DE) registration exercise, the Board had convened a meeting of all CBT operators in Lagos, where the guidelines on the exercise was deliberated and laid out for all to adhere to strictly. Earlier, the Board reiterated the directive of the Federal Government for the 2019 e-pins to be sold at N3,500, excluding the cost of the reading text, to ensure absolute compliance. The meeting had also resolved that the cost of registration should not exceed N700. Candidates were also to be guided properly on the assistance is required, without collecting any dime from them.
“Unfortunately, findings from the Board’s monitoring exercise, revealed that some centres were charging higher than the stipulated figure directed by the Federal Government and equally agreed on at the Lagos meeting for other charges. The Board finds this very disappointing and has therefore suspended such centres caught in this unholy act from the 2019 exercise.”
JAMB also added that it is currently monitoring closely activities at about 10 centres in Lagos and Plateau states, saying its management would meet on January 28, to take appropriate action on these centres.
JAMB, which commenced registration for the 2019 UTME on January 10, had registered more than 300,000 candidates within the first week.
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has revealed that it has raked in a total of N1.3 billion between January 18 and 24, 2019 as revenue from the ongoing registration for the 2019 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) and other sources including sale and use of its electronic facilities.
According to the examination body, during the week under review, JAMB made N42,457,657 from the use of its electronic facilities; N1,212,800,000 from UTME registration, N13,378,604 as service charges by the CBT centres and N52,657,00 from other sources.
JAMB Makes N1.3 Billion In One Week, Suspends 9 CBT Centres Over Illegal Activities
This information was made available by JAMB in Volume 1, Number 4 of its JAMB Bulletin- a weekly publication of the office of its Registrar, Ishaq Oloyede.
The Board also disclosed that it has suspended nine out of the over 700 Computer-Based Test centres taking part in the ongoing registration exercise due to alleged engagement in illegal activities; majorly charging candidates more than necessary and engaging in unauthorised use of registration SIM in a manner that is inimical to candidates’ interest.
It was gathered that the affected centres include the University of Benin ICT Computer Based Test (CBT) and DA Civic Centre, both in Benin City, Edo State; Mardakem Company Ltd., Oron, Akwa Ibom State; Bintels Global Services LTD, Aguleri, and Noble & Shuaib ICT Ltd, Alor, Anambra State, among others.

JAMB also added that it is currently monitoring closely activities at about 10 centres in Lagos and Plateau states, saying its management would meet on January 28, to take appropriate action on these centres.
The JAMB UTME registration has been on for two weeks now and is expected to end February 21st, 2019. JAMB had earlier announced guidelines and instructions that candidates are to follow to ensure a smooth registration process. However, we do not know how effective these have been in limiting or eliminating the usual bottlenecks associated with UTME registration.
This thread is for 2019 UTME candidates to share their experiences and give situation report on the whole process so far; both the ones that have been able to complete their registration and those unable to do so due to one issue or the other.

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has disclosed that about 300,000 Candidates have so far been registered for the 2019 UTME. This is coming 1 week after the Board commenced the sales of form. This information was made known by the Board’s Head, Media and Information, Dr Fabian Benjamin to newsmen on Friday in Lagos.
Dr Benjamin stated that the registration so far has been smooth, and the board is happy with the development because so far, there is just a tiny gap between the number of candidates that have acquired the e-pin and that of those that have registered,” he said.
300,000 Candidates Have So Far Registered For 2019 UTME - JAMB
Meanwhile, there have been calls that JAMB should set up centres across the states in Nigeria to handle candidates' biometric issues instead of such candidates going all the way to Abuja to solve the issues as this poses additional burden to the candidates and their parents.
However, Dr Benjamin insisted that all candidates with issues of biometrics must go over to Abuja for it to be rectified.
“I want to reiterate the fact that only the Registrar of the board has the sole right to attend to such issues. “Any candidate who may have issues with the capturing of his or her finger prints at their respective points of registration will need to come down to our office in Abuja. This will require the Chief Executive to do it himself for the purpose of security,” Benjamin said.
The  Joint Admissions and Matriculations Board (JAMB) has disclosed that candidates can now "upgrade" their UTME forms to that of Direct Entry instead of purchasing the two forms if they equally have the qualifications for Direct Entry Admission into any of the universities. This was part of the information contained in the 2019 JAMB UTME/DE Registration guidelines.
Explaining this further, the JAMB's Head of Media, Dr Fabian Benjamin said that candidates that applied through UTME and later obtained DE (Direct Entry) qualification or wish to use their Direct Entry qualifications for admission can upgrade their UTME to DE at no cost.
UTME Forms Can Now Be
”Once the candidate registers for UTME and discovers he has direct entry qualification, he or she is free to just upgrade to direct entry,” said Mr Benjamin.
This means that if you have qualification for Direct Entry Admission and wish to use it to apply for admission after you may have purchased the UTME Form, all you need to do is just to visit any of the JAMB accredited centre or JAMB offices and upgrade the UTME to Direct Entry instead of purchasing a separate Direct Entry form.
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has warned prospective candidates for the 2019 UTME to ensure they adhere strictly to the stipulated registration guidelines. The Board's Head of media, Dr Fabian Benjamin gave this warning on Friday during an interview with newsmen in Lagos.
According to Benjamin, all candidates who desire to register for the examination must ensure they begin by sending their full names, (surname first) to the code provided by the board. In doing this, candidates must ensure that no other person had used the telephone number for the same purpose.
JAMB Warns That No Two Candidates Must Use Same Phone Number For Registration
“No two persons must use a single GSM number in commencing the registration process as it will not be acceptable. “The way it is configured is one individual to one telephone number that will remain exclusive to that single individual for the purpose of the entire examination process. “Not even siblings are allowed to share a particular telephone number for this purpose. “
However, candidates who used their phone lines last year but are still going to participate in this year's UTME can use the same phone line they used last year for that purpose.
In the case of a missing telephone line, Benjamin  advised that it would be safe to get a fresh telephone number for the purpose to send the code for the candidate’s profile number. “No two persons can share a telephone number for the purpose of confidentiality. “As a rule, it has always been one person to a telephone number to get a profile number that will enable candidates do the proper registration and capturing,’’ he said.
