We know many 2017 JAMB candidates who wish to change their course or institution are eager to know when JAMB will enable the portal or make the service available again.

JAMB disclosed earlier that they will notify the public when the service becomes available.

At the moment, there has not been any official announcement or statement on that.

However, we expect JAMB to make the service available soon.
So we are going to use this thread to monitor and know when JAMB change of course portal has been reactivated or when JAMB has started offering that service.
If you have any credible information concerning 2017 JAMB change of course and institution, do well to use the comment section to let others know.

All 2017 JAMB Candidates are therefore advised to ensure they keep visiting this thread from time to time to check comments, and see if anyone reports that the process has started. ‎

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has dissociated itself from a social media account on Facebook calling on candidates to come for their UTME score upgrade.

The board warn the public and desperate candidates against falling victim of this scam and being defrauded of their hard earned money.
According to a statement by the Board's Head of Media, "We wish to state unequivocally that the statement was not from JAMB, its Registrar, Prof. Is-haq Oloyede, or any of its offices nor has he authorized any persons or group to post such an inglorious request and statement.

"JAMB therefore want to state that the results gotten by candidates from the 2017 UTME were the true reflection of their performance after going through a full proof scoring mechanisms. As such, it did not intend to review the scores or commissioned any body to do that. JAMB has also not been directed by any organ of government to so.

"JAMB wants to use this opportunity to state that its examination is not a fail or pass examination as there are other variables that are considered outside the examination to arrive at a successful admission. There is no need for this desperation as getting "high" scores as being touted by fraudulent characters is not a guarantee for admission.

He finally stated that effort are being made to arrest the perpetrators of this scam, and called on the public to visit the closes JAMB office if they have enquiries.

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board said on Wednesday that it had withheld 76,923 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination results so as to investigate allegations of malpractices surrounding those results.
The JAMB Registrar, Prof. Is-haq Oloyede, who disclosed this at a briefing in Abuja, said 1,606,901 results had so far been released, adding that the board would release the results of candidates found innocent among the 76,923 at the end of investigations.
Oloyede, who displayed some evidence of malpractices allegedly recovered from fraudulent candidates, said a date would soon be announced for the 3,811 candidates, who had challenges during the UTME, to sit for the exam.
He stated, "So far, we have released 1,606,901 results of candidates. This was done after 24 hours. We are then left with 80,889 results which have several issues. Out of this number, we have deliberately withheld 76,923 results for further investigation because of alleged malpractices in the centres where the examinations held.
"We do not mean that all of them committed infractions. Those who did may be less than 10 per cent, but pending investigations, the best is to withhold the number. I assure you that the results of those found innocent would be released before the commencement of the admission."
"Out of the 80,889, others have issues such as biometric verification. Our practice formerly was to allow our workers bypass the verification; but this year, we are insisting that without verification, no results.
"Therefore, presently, 640 candidates are affected because of the fact that some fraudulent centres tampered with their biometric verification. The 640 will be made to sit the exams again, and under my very eyes."The JAMB Registrar lamented that some parents connived with computer centres to help their children indulge in examination malpractices, adding that some paid as much as N200,000 for the fraud.‎"These malpractices were discovered in candidates' handkerchiefs, flip flops, hair wigs, and so on. Some CBT centres sent out fake answers and parents paid. JAMB also paid to verify the answers and they were found to be of course fake answers. Parents paid as much as N200,000 for these."Let me state that there is re-scheduling of the exams for any candidate who missed the UTME. But those who have correction to make on their data can go to any JAMB office and it would be corrected free of charge," Oloyede added.‎
While we wait for JAMB to officially announce the 2017 cut-off mark, many candidates are hoping that what ever it is going to be at the end of the day should be one that favours them.

A candidate that participated in the 2017 JAMB UTME has suggested that JAMB should decide the 2017 official cut off mark as follows;

Universities - 250
Polytechnics - 200

According to him, the reason is that often times many candidates just put in a little effort to reach the 180 mark and then count on "long leg" or "connection" to help them gain admission while candidates that studied quite hard to score 200 and above end up not getting admission even when they have merited such.

Well, that's his opinion. But what this candidate did not put into consideration is that there are candidates that got 200 and above through malpractice and there are others that got 180 by merit.

He also did not consider other factors that influencewho gets admission and who doesn't regardless of the JAMB score.

So while we cannot deny the role "connection" or "long leg" plays in admission process in Nigeria, this is certainly not the way to get around it. What do you think? ‎

Over the past few weeks many JAMB candidates have asked us these questions endlessly.

Others have been all over the internet in search of how to determine their admission screening scores and ultimately know their chances of securing admission this year.

Well, that is not really a wrong thing to do. But the thing is that no one really knows the standard that will be used by schools to screen candidates.
It is true that JAMB disclosed last year that candidates admission screening scores will be determine by the UTME score and O'level grades of the candidates through the POINT GRADE SYSTEM, However, many schools employed point grade systems different from the one stipulated by JAMB.

For instance, in last year's admission screening exercise of Lagos State University (LASU), A1 in any of your O'level Subjects is equivalent to 10 points while the same A1 in University of Ibadan (UI) last year was equivalent to 6 points.

This may have been due to the differences in JAMB cut-off mark in these schools or for some other reasons not known to us.

So there is every possibility that schools will still use different standards this year unless some thing is done about it.

Now apart from this, there are other factors and policies that influence and ultimately determine who gets admission and who does not at the end of the day.

I made a detailed post on that last year. You canCLICK HERE to read up.

So do not think that your "perceived" admission screening score automatically qualifies you for admission in your school of choice.

This is not to discourage you but to ensure you are well informed and more importantly help you decide whether or not you still need a change of course or institution when JAMB enables the portal again. After all, if we do not keep you informed, who will?
